Open Thread: Inviation for Gathering and Rally Attendees to Post Their Description of the Day's Events

This is an open thread, an invitation to all who came to pule and rally yesterday in Salt Lake City and San Francisco to post a description from your perspective of what happened yesterday, to share stories and photos. Please comment back to this thread with a paragraph or two. Mahalo!

Thank You for Your Support. Onward!

Aloha kakou. Thank you to everyone who came out yesterday to pule and to rally in support of the protection of Hawaiian public lands. Thank you, as well, to the many people who sent their pule and thoughts in support of this effort.

Throughout the day, those who gathered spoke of their love of Hawaii and our diverse connections to the Hawaiian Islands. One thought that recurred throughout these discussions was the understanding that government money-making through sale of precious Hawaiian public lands is at least short-sighted and a legal affront to the special status of the former Crown lands.

Organizers of the San Francisco events yesterday are now planning to organize workshops throughout the Bay Area to help people understand the historical, legal, and political issues surrounding Hawaiian public lands and to facilitate inquiry and discussion about these important issues. As factual materials or scholarly analyses are created, we will publish them here on this blog.

Please check in on this blog for further updates. And if you know of anyone who might be interested in these issues, please send them along. We can also be reached at kuikalono2009 "at" gmail "dot" com (substitute in symbols for "" terms).

Again, thank you for your interest. The love expressed by the people for the land is an endless inspiration to take up our responsibilities, work hard, and move forward together.

Malama aina. Malama pono.
